I was recently tasked with critiquing a room and making recommendations to improve it. I'll show you my moodboard and tell you a little bit of background about the space. It's a dining room owned by a mother-daughter duo. They're Texan, work in the fashion industry and have very very fabulous lives. Their taste in all things fashion is impeccable. Their home can best be described as rustic, Hollywood glam with a definitively retro vibe.
The room, as can be expected, is laden with beautiful statement vintage pieces; but the overall look was dark, heavy, busy, and lacking personality. Every piece in the room is large scale, and the color scheme is limited to black, white, and brass. My recommendation was simply to edit the room (retaining the rustic dining table) and bring in pieces with the right scale and proportion. To accent, I recommended an art piece that speaks to the women they are and some color accessories to create interest without too much distraction. Take a look! What do you think?
